MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN OF MEMBER'S COUNCIL

VIETNAM FOREST CORPORATION (VINAFOR) was established in 1995 under decision No. 667/tcld dated 04/10/1995 issued by, formerly, the Ministry of Forestry and presently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. In 1997, VINAFOR was categorized by the Government ats the state owned corporation of special class. VINAFOR engages in forestry activity throughout the country and stable growth has been recorded since its establishment.

Within fifteen years in business, VINAFOR has built up and maintained its pivotal role in the forestry sector of Vietnam, becoming a corporation of multiple ownerships and multiple benefit. VINAFOR is a group of companies comprising of independent accounting companies; dependent accounting companies; single member limited liability companies, joit stock companies with overwhelming share; joint stock companies with non-overwhelming share; joint venture companies; and branches/representative offices.

Among Vietnm's forestry companies, VINAFOR is the first Corporation in application of modern technology in wood based panel of production in Vietnam, making a shift from fully dependence on logs harvested in natural forest to using logs in planted forest as main source of raw materials. This shift is a very significant contribution the development and utilization of forest in a reasonable, effective and sustainable manner, and to the additional provision of valuable forest products to the consumers in Vietnam and overseas.

To realize the strategy of deep involvement from planting a tree to supplying a wide range of forest products, VINAFOR will, not only bring out its full efforts and strong commitment, but also work in close contact with, and cooperation of its local and foreign partners.
